Mission Statement

THE TUESDAY MUSICALE OF PASADENA was founded to promote the knowledge, performance, and enjoyment of music by its members and to promote interest in music throughout the Pasadena community.

History

TUESDAY MUSICALE  (TM) was founded in October 1914 by twenty-three active women musicians. Their purpose was to perform for each other, to increase the musical knowledge of its members and to promote interest in music throughout the community. The club has since grown to an organization of over one hundred members, with the same goals as set forth by the founders. More than two-thirds of the members are active performing musicians; the remainder are nonperforming music appreciation members.

Community Outreach

TM also has organized and sponsors a Tuesday Musicale Juniors program. Its purpose is to encourage young people in their study of music and to give them opportunities to take part in organized musical activities and appear on musical programs along with their fellow members. A scholarship fund is maintained by Tuesday Musicale to further encourage and aid talented young musicians.

The fifty-five-member Crown City Symphony, conducted by Dr. Paul Sherman, was founded in 2002 and is now under the sponsorship of The Tuesday Musicale.

Rehearsals are Saturday afternoons from 2:00-4:30 PM. For further information on joining, contact Roberta Wilcox, manager, at (626) 797-1994.

Since 1983, the Pasadena Public Library and the TM have been co-sponsors of the Second Sunday Concert Series, which presents free programs by community musicians on the second Sunday of each month from January through November.
